Donald Trump threatens to sue Trevor Noah over Epstein joke at Grammys

US President Donald Trump - US Street Talk

Washington DC, 02 February 2026: US President Donald Trump has threatened to sue famous comedian and Grammy Awards host Trevor Noah. This case is related to a joke Noah made at the Grammys, which mentioned Trump and the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Trump called the joke ‘false and defamatory’ on his social media platform Truth Social and mocked Noah as ‘completely lost’ and ‘talentless’.

Trevor Noah hosted the 68th Grammy Awards on Sunday night. This was his sixth and final time hosting the Grammys. During the ceremony, while presenting the ‘Song of the Year’ award, Noah said: “Song of the Year – this is a Grammy every artist wants, almost as much as Trump wants Greenland. It makes sense because Epstein’s island is gone, they need a new place to hang out with Bill Clinton.” This joke links Trump and former President Bill Clinton with Epstein’s private island, where incidents linked to sex trafficking allegations had occurred.

Trump immediately reacted by posting on Truth Social:

“Noah got it wrong saying that Donald Trump and Bill Clinton spend time on Epstein Island. Wrong! I can’t speak for Bill, but I have never been to Epstein Island, not even close, and until tonight’s false and defamatory statement, even the fake news media never accused me of being there.” He further called Noah ‘poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an MC’ and said, “Noah, a total loser, should get his facts straight and do it soon. Looks like I’ll send my lawyers to file a lawsuit against this poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an MC, and give him plenty $.

Trump’s connection with Epstein is a controversial topic

Epstein was a wealthy financier who was accused of sex trafficking underage girls. He committed suicide in prison in 2019. Trump and Epstein were friends in the past, but Trump has always said that he had cut ties with Epstein and had never visited his island. The recently released Epstein files mention Trump, but there is no evidence that he went to the island.

Trevor Noah, the South African comedian, is the former host of ‘The Daily Show’ and is known for his political satire. He has often targeted Trump in jokes. Noah hasn’t responded to this incident yet, but there’s been a buzz on social media about the joke and Trump’s threats. Some people have called Trump’s reaction over the top, while Trump supporters found Noah’s joke offensive.

The Grammy Awards are the biggest celebration in the music world, but this time it got more attention because of a political joke. Trump has previously threatened to sue the media and comedians, like CBS and others. No formal lawsuit has been filed yet, but this case will be looked at from a legal perspective.

This incident has once again sparked a debate about the limits of free speech and political satire in the US. Trump’s lawyers haven’t made any official statement yet, but this case could head to court soon.
